Children develop an understanding of numbers, when it is linked to a sense of quantity. This happens when children get opportunities to count in different contexts – when they count to find out how many children have come to the class today or when they count to find out which train has more blocks or it could be counting to check that they have made enough clay laddoos for the doll’s party! Mathematics is a part of life. Such activities connected to children’s life, help to experience it in that way.
